The Dance Centre and Kinesis Dance somatheatro present Paraskevas Terezakis' ODD-ESSAY: Gleaming I & II as part of the Dance Centre's Dance in Vancouver Festival at 10:00pm in the Faris theatre lobby immediately following the shows of Performance Program Two: Animals of Distinction, The 605 Collective.

Admission is free.

ODD-ESSAY: Gleaming I and II are impressionistic dance scenes in an elevator based on the love story of Penelope and Odysseus in Homer's classic the Odyssey.  Penelope waits twenty years for the return of her husband Odysseus who has left to fight in the Trojan War. The elevator ambivalently represents the potency of their reunion and the distance that has grown between them over such a lengthy time. The closed, confined environment mirrors Penelope's state - her decayed and tangled body so used to being without Odysseus, resurrected with their reuniting.
